The Breaking Barriers Summit on Mental Health will be the first multi-university, student led conference on mental health in Manitoba. We believe there is a strong need for more awareness and conversation around mental health in our community, and want to use this as an opportunity for passionate young leaders to come together in one room so that we can talk, and have meaningful conversations about mental health and the advocacy work needed to reduce mental health stigma on our respective university or college campus, as well as in our community.
We are reaching out to students & youth in our community so that we can create change in our community by coming together, collaborating and working as one big group on the skills we need to make a significant difference in our community around mental health awareness and advocacy.
Our two day event begins on Friday, March 10th at 6:30pm at the University of Manitoba with an evening mixer, an opportunity for conference delegates to get together in a relaxed environment, have some food and begin conversations and get excited for the full day to come.
Our conference continues on Saturday, March 11th at 8:30am at the University of Winnipeg, where we will gather for the day to learn, talk and grow as a group so that we can leave feeling ready to be advocates, equipped with the knowledge we need to fight mental health stigma in our province. Our day will be filled with keynotes, breakout sessions and opportunities to network with university students and other community organizations passionate just like we are!
