Breaking down the stigma of childhood disability through awareness and advocacy: The Dear Everybody Campaign

Disability stigma is a key barrier to living healthy and meaningful lives for children and youth with disabilities. Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital believes that, as a leader in pediatric care and research, it has a role in breaking down childhood disability stigma and advancing social justice. This role goes beyond the health-care sector to other areas of young people’s lives, such as employment and education. With the aim of tackling disability biases and supporting meaningful inclusion, Holland Bloorview is carrying out a multi-faceted, multi-year public anti-stigma campaign, which was co-developed with young people with disabilities and their families.

This webinar will describe Holland Bloorview’s Dear Everybody anti-stigma campaign. In the webinar, you will explore:
• equity barriers faced by people with disabilities, an important consideration in the use of the HEIA tool
• a public education mitigation strategy for addressing health and social inequities

The webinar is suitable for those who have a basic understanding of the HEIA tool. If HEIA is new to you, watch this short video to get a basic introduction.
