Brewed In: Toronto East

George Brown College’s Centre for Hospitality & Culinary Arts is delighted to launch a new range of events celebrating Craft Beer from Ontario and beyond! Our Brewed In: series of events kick off with a focus on Toronto East, and features 4 of Ontario leading craft breweries – Godspeed Brewery, Left Field Brewery, Muddy York Brewing Co. and Eastbound Brewing Co.

Founded by acclaimed brewmaster Luc ‘Bim’ Lafontaine, Godspeed Brewery opened in July 2017 at Coxwell & Gerrard. With a 25-hectolitre brewing system that’s already produced dozens of beers alongside a 100-seat brewpub featuring Japanese comfort food and managed by Luc's wife, Eri Kuramasu, Godspeed has become a firm favourite in Leslieville.

Situated a short walk away also in Leslieville, Left Field Brewery was founded in April 2013 by husband and wife team Mark and Mandie Murphy. Born from a passion for both craft beer and baseball, Left Field brews a series of baseball-inspired distinct and full-flavoured beers. Their family-friendly Tap Room and Bottle Shop is open daily and offers tours and pop-ups on weekends.

Headed by Susan Michalek - who looks after Marketing and Creative Design - and her husband Brewmaster Jeff Manol, Muddy York Brewing Co. released its first beer, The Muddy York Porter in 2015. What started as a very small and humble 3.5hL brewhouse, has grown to 10hL and has released more than three dozen beers of varying styles. Their retail store and taproom is located in East York and is open daily.

Riverside residents Eastbound Brewing Co. launched their brewpub and brewery at Queen & Broadview in April 2017. Led by another husband and wife team, Brewmaster Dave Lee and Chef Tara Lee, Eastbound has an 80-seat restaurant and retail store in the front complimented by an 11-hectolitre brewhouse with five fermenters in the back.

As part of this collaboration, we are delighted to host a craft beer-focused reception and 4-course dinner featuring all four breweries. With a very special menu prepared by Chef Tara Lee from Eastbound Brewing and Chef Ryusuke Yamanaka from Godspeed Brewery along with The Chefs’ House culinary brigade, this promises to be an outstanding evening of craft beer and food. Tickets are limited and priced at $85 plus HST.
