Description

Full Day Workshop, BRIDGES out of POVERTY
The bridges out of poverty community support program helps communities:

  • Identify systemic issues that contribute to local poverty
  • Build skill sets for management to help guide employees

  • Inspire community-level compassion and a commitment to poverty
  • Support individuals while they move from poverty to self-sufficiency
  • Build sustainable communities

Bridges Out Of Poverty Workshops:

Bridges out of Poverty is considered a starting point toward a shared community-wide perspective about defining and working towards ending poverty. The workshops are designed to educate community members from middle and upper socio-economic groups on the societal factors that influence and sustain poverty and the experiences of living in poverty and barriers low-income individuals face to moving out of poverty.
In Each Full Day Workshop Participants Will:

  • Examine the impacts of poverty on families
  • Explore the hidden rules of poverty.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and strengths of people living in poverty.
  • Explore how access to resources impacts the way we see the world.
  • Engage in self-reflection and group exercises to further explore the concepts covered in the workshop.
  • Engage in self and group reflection to identify opportunities and capacity for future action on poverty reduction at the individual, agency, and community levels.
  • Engage in self and group reflection to identify opportunity for improving current practice to better serve and support individuals living in poverty.
  • Earn the necessary prerequisite to future involvement with the Circles program.

We Recommend These Sessions for:

  • Municipal, Social, Health and Legal services professional.
  • Front-line staff & Management
  • Volunteers and Community Leaders

Please note that a workbook will be required for this workshop. Please contact Shelley Lalonde at lalondes@sdhu.com if you have any further questions.
