Join us in this event dedicated to helping newcomers find professional employment

Event's Shcedule

8:00 AM – 8:30 AM: Registration

8:30 AM – 9:20 AM: Networking Breakfast

During the Networking Breakfast, you will have the opportunity to connect with new people and expand your professional network. There will also be an activity to help you create stronger connections with other participants.

9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: Panel – Canadian Work Experience: Fact or Fiction

A panel composed of four professionals with different backgrounds will discuss how the Canadian Work Experience can be a barrier for newcomers. Each panelist will offer advice on establishing a strategy to overcome this challenge.

10:40 AM – 12:00 PM: Employer Connection

You will have the chance to connect with six large employers. Get your questions answered about the job market and learn about current job openings.

Our Panelists are:

Erica Groome: Erica is a Job Developer at Conestoga College's Immigrant Pathways, a program helping create meaningful internships and employment opportunities for newcomers to Canada while simultaneously enriching Canadian workplaces with global skills, diversity, creativity and a strong work ethic.

Mustafa Morsy: Mustafa is a Mechanical Engineer specialized in Building Services Design and Project Management with a Masters of Applied Science from McMaster University. Mr. Morsy arrived in Canada in 2013 from Saudi Arabia and has been working as a Mechanical Engineer for more than 2 years in Canada.

Dina Zaki: Dina is a Market Recruiter at Cargill, a food corporation with 155,000 employees and present in 70 countries. Dina was an experienced HR Manager in Egypt and established a successful career in her area as a newcomer to Canada.

Tom Lusis: Working for the Talent Attraction Initiative with Economic Development of County of Wellington, Tom Lusis holds a PhD in Immigration Studies from the University of Guelph and has more than 10 years of experience working with newcomers to Canada.
