Event description

Description

Our connections to nature and the natural elements are instrumental to our wellbeing. Since we spend 90% of our time indoors, we have alienated ourselves from nature and weakened our connection. We need to integrate the natural aspects that contribute to our health and wellness into our homes, so we continue to reap nature’s benefits while indoors.

Plants purify the air from toxins, relax and rejuvenate us, and that’s just the beginning. But integrating nature into our lives goes beyond adding plants. From wood and water to sound, sent and light, we will explore the different elements and their effect on the individuals.

This workshop will teach you everything you need to know about nature and its elements that contribute to health and wellness and how to integrate them tastefully while staying true to your own sense of beauty.

You will also learn design tricks to create the feel of natural environment when the space doesn’t support nature's integration.

You will learn

• From air, light and sound, to water, wood, earth, fire and metal, we will discuss nature’s elements that contribute to our health and wellness.

• The significant houseplants and their detoxing capacity.

• From the living walls and potted plants to indoor courtyard gardens, you’ll learn about the various methods of bringing a piece of nature into your home.

• Design methods and tricks to create the feel of a natural environment when the space doesn’t support nature's integration.

• How to integrate nature while staying true to your personal style and sense of beauty.

About The Holistic Home

The effect of our built environment on us is too great to ignore, and what we put into our home reflects back to us. The Holistic Home is an authentically beautiful home that reflects who we truly are and supports our wellbeing on the physical, emotional, spiritual and social levels, and the wellbeing of our planet.

Each decision we make in the creation of our homes has a direct impact on our physical and psychological health and the health of our planet. The Holistic Home Workshop Series aims at providing the knowledge and tools you need to transform your place of residence into a home that supports your wellbeing while promoting sustainable living.

Meet the instructor - nora bouz

One of a handful accredited Holistic Interior Designers in western Canada and the founder of the first design studios specialising in Holistic Interior Design in Alberta, nora leverages over 12 years leading interior design projects and integrates Design for Wellbeing to offer her clients magnificent interiors that support their health and wellness.

nora believes that nature is the most important source of our wellbeing. Design needs to re-establish our connection with nature and its elements in the spaces where we live, heal, work and play. For the impact to be comprehensive, design goes beyond the visual and addresses everything the senses pick up. There are many ways for this integration to happen, and the design's role is to stay true to the people's individual style and own expressions.
