About this Event
The Municipal Climate Change Action Centre will discuss how to implement energy efficiency projects at arenas on a tight budget with a diverse panel from municipalities in Alberta.
We'll hear from our panelists:
- Michelle Gairdner, Manager, Energy Management & Environmental Services for the City of Grande Prairie
- Emily Plihal, Climate Change Coordinator for the Village of Donnelly & Town of Falher
- Brad Anderson, Facility Manager for the City of Airdrie
We'll talk about:
- Exemplary energy-efficient arenas from across Canada and in Alberta,
- projects that have resulted in energy and cost savings for our panelists,
- low-cost or no-cost energy-efficient projects that can be implemented in arenas,
- lessons learned while upgraded arenas, and
- funding available for municipalities to implement energy-efficient measures.
Municipal Climate Change Action Centre
The Municipal Climate Change Action Centre was founded in 2009 as a collaborative initiative of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, Rural Municipalities of Alberta, and the Government of Alberta. We deliver funding, technical assistance, and education to help Alberta municipalities, school authorities and, community-related organizations advance actions that lower energy costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve climate resilience.
