Event Information
About this event
Do you hate buying plastic bagged compost? Do you want to compost but feel you don't have the room? Are you looking for a way to reduce your waste stream and live more lightly on the planet? Do you struggle with making compost? Are your municipal laws preventing you from having an outdoor compost pile? Looking for some quiet, easy to keep pets? If you answered yes to any of these questions, worm farming is for you! Come share some outdoor space with like minded people and learn to build a worm farm.
Vermicomposting is an easy way to generate high quality compost for your plants, and for compost tea. Worms are easy to keep and with a the right home and a bit of care they will provide you with high quality compost for years to come asking only for some food and paper scraps on a semi regular basis. This class will teach you how to build a good worm home, and how to care for your new pets. Well managed worm bins are completely odor free, allowing you to compost indoors year round, in any space that will not freeze in winter.
We will be actually building our worm bins during this class, but you are also welcome to attend and just watch. Please note that there are two ticket prices. One price will include all the supplies you will need for this class, and the other price will be attendance only. With the attendance only tickets you may choose to bring your own supplies, or just watch and learn. A supply list will be provided if requested.
