BUILD IT! Reclaimed Wood Table Session is a 1 day, 8-hour workshop in a professional woodworking shop, during which you will build 1 custom sized rectangular or square surface for use as a coffee table, desk, or other unique use you have in mind.

Working with an experienced facilitator and woodworking educator you will get hands-on experience in woodworking and finishing techniques and learn how to safely use a variety of tools including a miter saw, finishing nailer, cordless drill, pipe clamps, belt sander, orbital sander, and numerous non-power tools.

Food for Thought: Thinking about crafting a dining table? The surfaces made during our Build It Sessions are best suited for non- food use as the surface will have imperfections and seams between the pieces of wood. We use reclaimed wood which features nail holes, knots and other delights.

If you are looking to experience woodworking for the first time, or if you have crafted with wood previously, this is a great way to get into the shop and get hands on.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

PRICING, FEES, ADDITIONAL COSTS & MATERIAL


-The workshop fee is $ 185 + Taxes.

- The reclaimed wood is additional & depends on the size of surface you make.

-65" Long x 35" Wide is the maximum table size that we can accommodate in these sessions.


-The typical range for material cost is $40-$120. For example, the average cost of material for a table measuring 58" Long x 30" Wide x 30" High with 2 wooden rectangular legs is $100, whereas a smaller coffee table would be around $65. Send us an email to hello@woodshop.coop for an estimate.


-Wood Shop will supply all of the materials you will need to complete your project.


-We use rustic reclaimed Spruce, Pine & Fir. This means that the lumber we use is not new. It has nail holes and surface imperfections. Rustic is the name of the game.


-A material fee invoice will be emailed to you once you submit your chosen design, size and base type.


-Homeward Bound. Pick up or delivery will be available one week after the Session. The finish needs to cure and the material fee invoice needs to be paid before you can pick up.


FAQs


What age group is this appropriate for?

We welcome youth at Sessions. If a participant is under the age of 18 please send us an email as they may need to be joined by an adult depending on their skill set. Contact us, hello@woodshop.coop so we can help get you registered.


What skill level do you need to have?

No experience necessary! We will provide you with the support you need to use the basic tools required for the project. We have the table saw covered, so you get to fun with assembly and design! Keep in mind, the more complex the pattern the more experience, speed and patience you are going to need. If you think you will need a helping hand, bring a friend for an extra $25. FYI. You will need to buy a ticket to go along with your Session ticket. Limited space is available. If you feel like you would like more time to enjoy the learning or building process, our 2 day Sessions are for you.


What is the maximum size of the table that I can make during one 8 hour session?

65" Long x 35" Wide.


When can I take my table home or have it delivered?

Pick up or delivery will be available one week after the Session. The finish needs to cure and the material fee invoice needs to be paid before you can enjoy your piece at home or in your business.



What is the cost for delivery?

In Vancouver:

$30 Monday to Friday 9am - 5 pm

$50 After 5 pm and on Weekends

In other areas such as North/West Van, Richmond, New West etc, please send us a request for a delivery quote.

You can purchase delivery when you buy your Session ticket.

What does the $185 Session Ticket include?

When you purchase a Session ticket it is for ONE participant and covers the cost of the facilitation and time in the Shop. Material fees are additional and depend on the size of the item that you build and the wood species used.


Can I bring an extra person to the Session?

The answer is YES as long as we have space. Please purchase the Add an Extra Person ticket on EventBrite. Or we can add it to your Material Fee invoice. We need to know in advance if you will be bringing an additional person to the Session. This allows to staff the event properly and to have enough tools and safety equipment for everyone.

Can I book a group of friends for the session?

Yes! If you have multiple people interested in making their own pieces, email us at hello@woodshop.coop. We can also discuss a private session, where you can customize the build to your preferences.

What type of Wood is used?

We use rustic reclaimed spruce, Pine and Fir. Should you like to inquire about other types of wood such as cedar, maple or fir please ask as we may have the supplies to accommodate the request.


What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

We have ample free parking outside of the Shop. The location is within walking distance of the Main St. Skytrain Station and bus routes.


Is my registration/ticket transferrable or refundable?


Refunds and Date Transfers: Refunds and or Date Transfers will not be issued within 10 days of the Shop Class Session. See below for additional options.

Transfer of Ticket: We want to make your experience with our Shop Class sessions a positive one, so we allow the transfer of a Shop Class ticket in the event that you can't make it. You may transfer your ticket to another person and they can submit a new design by the Wednesday prior to the Shop Class Session. You may also transfer your ticket to another attendee up until the Session date, but we will not be able to alter the design specs submitted.

Pay it Forward: You can't make it to your Shop Class Session and you want to Pay it Forward by donating your spot to a person in the community who has given back to the community through volunteering or who may not otherwise be able to afford to attend a Shop Class Session.
