Join us at the Heritage In at this hands-on training session for builders, trades people, and developers in the East Kootenay who:

  • are looking for hands-on training by a qualified building science expert
  • want to know more about building envelope designs
  • are keen to learn how to maximize air sealing in new home construction
  • wish to learn different approaches to building envelope design and implementation that meet and exceed BC Building Code performance outcomes.

Overview

Community Energy Manager, Megan Lohmann will provide a brief update on the new BC Energy Step Code, and Hamid Heidarali, P. Eng will facilitate a hands-on workshop on innovative approaches to maximizing home energy efficiency through building envelope. The workshop features ten wall assemblies, designed and built by Hamid Design Build, which will reside in the East Kootenay to be used as training and education tools. Hamid will be presenting these wall assemblies, and introducing some of the opportunities that exist to improve energy performance of new and existing homes through innovative approaches to insulation, air sealing and wall design.

This workshop is pending Continuing Professional Development credits approval with BC Housing.

The early bird rate is $85 for registrations up to November 5th. Registrations after this date pay $100. Flat fees- no GST or PST. Plus 15% off for CEA members!

About Our Main Speaker

Hamid Heidarali has a strong passion for high performance, durable buildings that minimize their impact on the environment, while providing a superior experience for their occupants. He has been providing building science consultation on a wide range of construction projects in Canada over the past 14 years. He teaches Building Envelope courses to Masters Students as part of the Building Science Graduate Program at British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), and also presents to construction professionals on a regular basis.

Hamid holds Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng) in Ontario and British Columbia, a LEED Accredited Professional in Canada, and a certified Passive House Tradesperson through Germany. He received his Master of Engineering in Building Science and Construction Management, and his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Hamid is a Principal at Hamid Design Build (HDB), a Building Science consulting firm, offering services with the focus on improving energy efficiency, moisture management, durability, and thermal comfort.
