Event description

Description

What does it really take to build your confidence and become more resilient?

What does being confident even mean? And how do you get past imposter syndrome?

We'll be bringing 3 speakers with diverse experiences together to talk about the importance of confidence for both small business owners + corporate career development.

Together we'll discuss what confidence means to us, how it's impacted our work and how we can feel more resilient (and therefore more confident) as we move forward in life.

We'll share our own stories, struggles and experiences so that you might learn from others - gaining new tips for what to do when you're not feeling confident (both long term and in the moment) and what you can do to be a more confident person.

The evening will include:

Doors open at 6.45pm!

6.45 - 7.15: Meet + make new friends or chat with our speakers who will be there to meet you before the conversation starts.

7.15 - 8.30: A Panel discussion with our speakers, moderated by Lucy Gregory of Salt Design Co. & Design Build Grow.

8.30 - 9: Time for any questions you have or to continue chatting with new connections

Speakers:

Daphne Wong // Salt Design Co. & Design Build Grow
Daphne is one half of our own team! As a new entrepreneur, she will be sharing how she has navigated the transition from being a full-time government employee to the owner of her own business. Plus, as an introvert, she'll be joining us to discuss what it's like finding your feet in a type of work that requires to be very social with strangers.

Aaron De Jong // Movement 108
Aaron is the founder of the local fitness studio, Movement 108. With a focus on creating optimal mind and body results through movement (without going full throttle) Aaron has created a community that revolves around movement - not just fitness. Starting off in a small location and growing steadily, Aaron will be sharing some of his personal experiences and how he's built the confidence to run a large team, speak in public, and share his knowledge with hundreds of people through his work as a Lululemon Ambassador.

Diana Chung // EF Educational Tours
Diana is a Sales Manager of Toronto based EF Educational Tours. Heading up their Vancouver branch (and soon transitioning into a Director role!) Diana will be sharing how grit and resilience have a huge part to play in your confidence, and career progression as a whole. With corporate experience, Diana will be bringing a fresh perspective to our otherwise small-business focused conversation.

We would like to acknowledge that this event will be held on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded Indigenous territories of the ʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations. As guests in Vancouver, we recognize that it a privilege and honour to live and build communities here.
