Building Inspector Step Code Workshop
Date and time
A home tour and workshop designed for building inspectors and local government staff.
About this event
The BC Energy Step Code (Step Code) is a voluntary provincial standard that provides an incremental and consistent approach to achieving more energy-efficient buildings that go beyond the requirements of the base BC Building Code. It does so by establishing a series of measurable, performance-based energy-efficiency requirements and compliance verification processes for new construction. This interactive Step 3 level mid-construction home tour and workshop is for building inspectors and local government staff.
• Learn about the purpose and vision of the Step Code.
• Understand, through practical language and home tour examples, how the Step Code metrics are used to measure the performance of the building and verify code compliance.
• Learn about the roll of energy advisors and energy modellers in supporting builders to find the most cost effective and consumer-preferred options to meet and beat Step Code targets.
• Understand how building officials will use the BC Energy Compliance Report as a code compliance verification tool.
• Review information about financial incentives available for building to BC Energy Step Code requirements.
• Have your questions about the BC Energy Step Code and the BC Energy Compliance Report answered by experienced industry and local government professionals.
