About this event

Join Cristal Hines as she facilitates this educational and interactive workshop.

Cristal Hines is a social entrepreneur, leading operations strategist, equity educator and community activist, Cristal Hines bridges the gap between vision and impact through holistic and equity-centric strategy for youth, individuals and organizations who are seeking to improve cultures and institutional practices. As the founder of “My Sister’s Keeper”, an intergenerational and interdisciplinary mentorship hub for women, Cristal and her team are working diligently to address systemic gaps that impact women in: economics, employment sector and various relationships they encounter whilst providing women with the tools, resources and facilitated connections to navigate these areas.

This workshop will explore the presenting needs for our youth and discuss collaborative interventions which will assist/guide them to achieve success in their lives.

Workshop Objectives:

    • Debunking myths about Black youth
    • Defining Black youth well-being holistically. Explaining definitions and terminology on Black youth MH
    • Tools for parents to navigate institutional systems
    • Teaching strategies for Black youth to know their rights
    • Analysis of barriers for black youth mental health (criminal justice system, education system, employment sector, etc.
    • Breakout rooms to talk about strategies about things we can do right now to eliminate harmful ideas about Black youth/ brainstorming strategies to aid Black Youth mental health.

    This interactive workshop is perfect for young people, adults, parents, caregivers and guardians.
