Event description

Description

Eden Energy Equipment is kick starting 2020 with our most popular building science course. This course is taught by Robert Bean one of the leading building science experts in the world.

The course is designed to assist engineers, policy makers, builders and high end contractors to design and implement mechanical systems for an ever evolving market place. As strict new energy requirement standards come into effect across North America this 2 day course will help you meet these demanding new changes.

Course Scope:

The Responsibility of Passive and Active Architecture, Building Science, Interior Design and HVAC System for Indoor Environmental Quality in an uncertain world.

Course Outcomes:

After this two day workshop participants will be able to use the principles of integrated design first with passive then active strategies for engineering indoor climates which promote health and comfort. Students will develop a working knowledge of CBE Thermal Comfort Tool. Payette Downdraft and Radiant Risk Assessment Tool, Cardinal Glass Energy and Comfort Tool, VELUX Daylight Factor Tool, Dr. Marsh Daylighting Tool, NRC/IRC IA-Quest VOC Assessment Tool and Climate Consultant Tool.

Specific topics:

  1. Fundamentals of indoor environmental quality including thermal, air, light and sound.
  2. Understanding how demographics is changing the landscape of design.
  3. Passive architecture (solar control and passive cooling) to prevent overheating within high performance enclosures.
  4. Using building science principles to mitigate occupant discomfort whilst conserving energy
  5. How indoor environmental quality enables sustainability and can drive energy policy.
  6. Case studies: residential and office space.

Course Cost:

This 2-day course is $450.00 + HST. You will register here and we will contact you to confirm your spot. Upon acceptance to the course you will be called for payment. The cost includes all course material, certificate of course completion as well as snacks, drinks and lunch. This course is designed to provide ample time to not only cover the course material but address specific student questions as the two day course progresses.

Attendance:

Due to the extreme popularity of this course and limiting the class size to maximize student-teacher participation it is highly encouraged you register early. Our team will contact you for payment once the event is finalized. Any questions on course availability please contact our Technical Services Manager at 1-800-665-3336 x 122 or via email, michael@edenenergy.com

Instructor: Robert Bean is director of www.healthyheating.com, and founder of Indoor Climate Consultants Inc. He is a retired engineering technology professional (ASET and APEGA) who specialized in the design of indoor environments and high performance building systems. Among many accomplishments Bean is a third term ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer, recipient of the Lou Flagg Award, Distinguished Service Award and instructor for the ASHRAE Learning Institute. He has authored many papers, articles and course curriculums and serves on numerous technical committees related to indoor environmental quality, building and energy systems. His motto is, "Design for people, good buildings follow."
