Thu, 30 March 2017, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM EDT
Heritage Toronto, St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association and the University of Toronto's Faculty of Information (iSchool) invite you to join us in a celebratory evening commemorating the remarkable history of Toronto's St. Lawrence Market Neighbouhood.
Building Toronto: Stories of the St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood is a travelling exhibition that showcases the stories of Toronto’s built heritage in the St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood. Beginning with the Town of York’s early modest footprint, the exhibition explores urban development and the civic engagement of its population. Discover how our city’s first planned neighbourhood served as the building blocks for Toronto’s commercial, cultural, social, and political history.
We are launching the exhibit with this event at St. Lawrence Hall, which will celebrate the success of iSchool students in their exhibit placement at Heritage Toronto and will unveil four new plaques in the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood, both produced with the generous support of the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association. Please arrive in time for remarks, at 6PM. There will be light refreshments. Register below to guarantee your space.
Following the launch, the exhibit will be installed in the lobby of St. Lawrence Hall for the month of April. Full details about the exhibit's travelling schedule will be posted on heritagetoronto.org later this month.
