Join us for our GD&T Training Course and get the expertise and experience of the developers of BuildIT's cutting-edge metrology software as we explore the industrial use and applications of GD&T.

As the need to raise quality standards, lower production costs, and reduce the margin for error has increased, the need for GD&T in the industrial world has grown accordingly. Whether it be design, manufacturing, or quality control, all members of your team need to understand the benefits and applications of GD&T. Over this 3-day course, we will address everything from the purpose and benefits of GD&T, through the theory and calculations governing how to use the tolerances. We will discuss specific applications and exercises, as well as explain concepts for GD&T through an intuitive software approach.

Topics covered include:

  • Introduction to the Standard ASME Y14.5
  • Basic Concepts (Features, Datum, Datum Reference Frame, etc.)
  • Review of the most common Tolerances (Form, Orientation, Location, etc.)
  • Advance Tolerances and Concepts (Surface Profile, Hole patterns, Material condition modifiers, etc.)

BuildIT’s GD&T Training course will take place in downtown Montreal, February 6-8th 2018. (Exact location to be determined soon). All training material will be provided. Each training day is scheduled from 9 am to 4 pm. Lunch and snacks will be served!

***A certificate of attendance will be given to each participant at the end of the last day of training to justify this professional development to the OIQ***

Onat Ekinci works in Research and Development in Application Engineering for BuildIT Software & Solutions, a Division of FARO Technologies Inc. He holds a PhD in mechanical engineering from Montreal Polytechnic and has publications in the field of machine design and error analysis. His expertise covers areas such as surgical robots, aerospace and power utilities, in which he has worked as a research consultant. Onat works extensively at applying the definitions of GD&T to industrial digital metrology software, and advancing the understanding of real-world applications. He is also an active member of the ASME, participating in the GD&T Community.
