Description

AFACS movie series “Burkinabe Rising” the acts of resistance in Burkina Faso will be shown on March 10, 2018, at the Halifax central library. Burkinabe Rising showcases creative nonviolent resistance in Burkina Faso. A small, landlocked country in West Africa. Burkina Faso is home to a vibrant community of artists and engaged citizens, who provide an example of the type of political change that can be achieved when people come together. It is an inspiration, not only to the rest of Africa but also to the rest of the world. The goal of this movie is inspire those that watch it to become more proactive. "A lot of times, people read, think, ‘like' posts on social media and think this is activism, but they stay in their cocoons. We must get out there and work on the ground. Hopefully, my film will motivate people" (Iara Lee). Please come and join AFACS for this movie preview, it is free, donations will be accepted anytime.
