Description

The OWWA Treatment Committee and YP Committee are organizing a tour of the Burlington Water Purification Plant! The tour is open to all OWWA members. Only 20 spots available so sign up soon!

The Burlington Water Purification Plant (BWPP), was originally founded in 1935. It has gone through many upgrades over its 80+ year history, the most recent occurring in 2004.

The latest upgrades were to meet new regulations, increase capacity, control taste and odor and enhance public health protection. The plant was also converted from direct to conventional filtration.
The BWPP has a total plant capacity of 263 MLD, supported by the Actiflo process for coagulation and sedimentation, intermediate ozonation, and biologically active dual media anthracite/sand filtration.
