Burnaby Housing Choices Program Laneways and Suites - Community Workshop

Burnaby’s Housing Choices Program is introducing new housing options into our city, which bridge the gap between single-family homes and apartments or condos.

The first new options being explored are Laneway Houses and Secondary Suites in Semi-Detached Homes (“Suites in Semis”). During consultation for Burnaby’s HOME Strategy, the community said that these are important new housing types for inclusion in single and two-family home neighbourhoods. Based on this input, we’re now taking action to finalize the requirements for these housing types as they become available in Burnaby.

We are inviting residents to participate in an interactive workshop that explores how these forms of housing could be implemented in our city. Join project team members and fellow residents to discuss your ideas, share your preferences, and offer any experiences related to laneways and suites in semi-detached houses.

If you're unable to join the workshop, there will be an opportunity near the event space to review information and offer your input. Additionally, the emerging outcomes from the workshop will be made available for review and input following the session.

If you would prefer, there is also the option to join a virtual version of the workshop.

PLEASE NOTE: The registration deadline is June 21st. Once registration is full, a waitlist will be available to join and you will be contacted should a spot open up.

Please respect others preferences for wearing masks and do not attend if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or have been told to self-isolate in accordance with Public Health Directives. If you have already registered for the workshop and any symptoms develop prior to the event, please cancel your registration.
