Sara Mojtehedzadeh:

Undercover Among Temps:

The ethics of an undercover investigation, and what that investigation tells us about Ontario's temporary workers

Temp agencies are on the rise across Ontario. The Star went undercover at a Toronto factory where a temp agency worker died to find out how the rise of precarious work is impacting workers and reshaping our economy.  Sara Mojtehedzadeh will discuss her findings and experiences working inside one of the continent's biggest industrial bakeries, where hiring through temp agencies is the norm.

Sara Mojtehedzadeh is a staff reporter with the Toronto Star, Canada’s largest daily newspaper, where she writes about labor issues, precarious work, and poverty. Previously, she worked for the BBC World Service where she produced African news and current affairs coverage from across the continent. From 2012 to 2013, she was the Aga Khan Foundation of Canada’s media fellow in Nairobi, Kenya reporting on human rights and development issues for the country’s largest national newspaper. She has also worked for Al Jazeera English and Sky News.

This event is brought to you by the Jim Pattison Ethical Leadership Program in conjunction with the Ryerson School of Journalism.
