CACBT-ACTCC 13th Annual Conference, Halifax NS (Hybrid)

We are beyond excited to announce that this year’s CACBT conference, which is our 13th annual conference yet our first hybrid conference, is themed Towards Culturally Responsive CBT.

Cognitive-behavioural therapy and the CACBT have a lot of work ahead of us to better represent and meet the needs of racialized and marginalized Canadians. This is only one step. We hope you will join us.

Please join us May 4 –6, 2023, either virtually or in person at Dalhousie University in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Our conference highlights include the following:

• Keynotes by Dr. Nigel Lou and Dr. Sarah Victor
• Workshops by Dr. Philippe Shnaider, Dr. Taylor Hatchard, and Dr. Ghayda Hassan
• Clinical Skills Trainings by Charity Fleming, MSW, and Dr. Marjory Phillips
• Clinical Symposium by Dr. Jude Mary Cénat and Dr. Angela Haeny
• Research Symposium by Dr. Sherry Stewart

These events speak to how we might adapt CBT for our clients who are Indigenous, from ethnic and religious minorities, 2SLBTQIA+, and/or neurodiverse, as well as the importance of destigmatizing mental illness among ourselves, cognitive-behavioural therapists, researchers, and trainees.

We are also pleased to be featuring the following:

• Virtual Poster Fair;
• Student Professional Development Awards, which include awards specifically for students who are Indigenous, Black, and/or Persons of Colour;
• In-person and virtual exhibitors; and
• In-person and virtual networking opportunities and social events.

EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION DEADLINE: April 15, 2023

Note that membership must be current at the time of registration to be eligible for CACBT member conference rates. (Full Membership: $125/year; Student Membership: $60/year)

NOTE FOR POSTER PRESENTERS:

•You will be notified by March 28, 2023 whether your poster has been accepted for presentation at the conference.

• Poster presenters must register for the conference in separate categories. Student poster presenters should register in the category Poster Presenter: Student Member or Poster Presenter: Student Non-Member. Poster presenters who are not students, should register in the category Poster Presenter: Member or Poster Presenter: Non-Member. (Please note that poster presenters pay the same rate as non-presenters.)
