Event description

Description

Natalie Dawe and her father, Dr. Edmund Dawe, have been performing together since the very beginning of Natalie's musical journey. They are thrilled to perform selections from their favorite repertoire for cello and piano to help raise funds for further music education through the Douglas Kuhl School of Music. Come and enjoy an evening of delicious food and wonderful music in a relaxed and up-close setting, featuring works by Bach, Dvorak, Mendelssohn, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, Faure and Paganini!

Hors d'oeuvres and wine will be served at 6:30 pm, while the music begins at 7:00 pm. Seating is limited, so make sure to purchase your tickets early!

All proceeds will help spread the love of music by supporting the availability of strong music education programs in Southern Manitoba, such as Cadenza Summer Music Week. Charitable donation receipts will be issued for the eligible amount of the ticket price.

Cadenza Summer Music Week, a program of the Douglas Kuhl School of Music, exists as a living answer to the question: "How can students be encouraged to love studying music?"

It is our experience that students find joy in music when they are:

  • inspired through excellent teaching and performances

  • meaningfully connected with musicians of all ages (through relationships and ensemble playing)

  • encouraged to explore creative aspects of musical study (improvisation, composition)

  • introduced to a variety of musical styles and aspects of music study (classical, fiddle, music theory, technique, music history, etc.)

At the heart of the Cadenza vision is a desire that all participants have an encouraging experience of being part of a musical community.
