This module walks you through an introduction into the roles and responsibilities of the costume supervisor/coordinator in relation to the larger costume department. The Costume Supervisor works with the Costume Designer and the Assistant Designer to organize and supervise the Costume Department. There are many parts to the job, and many overlap with the Assistant Costume Designer, some of them are: script breakdown, setting up the work space, budget, schedule, communication, and finances.
This course will be offered on Zoom with the ability for participants to submit questions in real time for the instructor to expand on. An email with all the required access information will be sent slightly after 12pm EST (9am PST) on the day of the course. Please check your spam folder if you cannot find the email. The only way to access the course is at the allotted course start time on Zoom. A link, video, or refund for the course will not be provided to any participants who miss the course or who do not log on at the appropriate time.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS
Sarah Armstrong is a Toronto-based costume and installation designer. Her focus is on textiles and the abilities that textiles have to tell a story. From designing a character and projecting personality through the wardrobe of that character to filling a space with various textiles to project light, sound and images to tell a narrative, Sarah is continuing to explore and develop new uses for fabric and textiles In film Sarah has designed for the National Film Board, the Canadian Film Centre, CBC Television and various independent film projects and producers. She designed Sarah Polley’s film, “Stories We Tell” which was voted one of the best Canadian films of 2012. She has been nominated for a Genie Award for her design of “Nurse. Fighter. Boy.” directed by Charles Officer and produced by the NFB. She has been nominated for the Virginia & Myrtle Cooper Award for Costume Design five times. Sarah is an accredited member of Associated Designers of Canada, CAFTCAD and IATSE 873.
