Event description

Description

The Calgary Food System Alliance, Alberta Food Matters, and the Alex Community Food Centre are proud to co-host a two-part evening dialogue where you can engage in conversation about the best steps forward for our federal and municipal governments in supporting a resilient food system for all.

Part One (6pm - 7pm)

The Canadian government is undertaking nation-wide community consultations as it works to build a national food policy for Canada. The Government of Canada is consulting Canadians on four closely connected themes:

  • increasing access to affordable food;

  • improving health and food safety;

  • conserving our soil, water, and air; and,

  • growing more high-quality food.

Provide your voice. Your co-hosts will collate the feedback gathered from attendees and submit it to the Government of Canada by September 30.

Part Two (7.15 pm - 8.15 pm)

The Calgary Food System Alliance (CFSA) is looking for your input and engagement in making food system issues part of the community conversation in the lead-up to the municipal elections.

CFSA will be polling all mayoral and council candidates on their election positions related to municipal food policies.

This session is your opportunity to help us decide on the key issues to be included in the poll, and to develop a plan for disseminating key messages and action plans to community members and local food groups. Let's make food part of the election conversation!
