Event description

Description

We need your help Calgary! Have you heard frogs calling in your community? Call of the Wetland is looking for volunteers to help monitor amphibian species in Calgary storm water ponds and wetlands. There are evening surveys and day time surveys available at wetlands all around the City. You can go once or many times depending on your availability. No experience necessary, this is a fun way to get out and learn about nature in an urban environment with family and friends.

Call of the Wetland is a 3-year citizen science amphibian monitoring project where Calgarians participate by reporting their amphibian observations via the Call of the Wetland app. Over 40 diligent volunteers have been completing surveys since April. With over 60 local wetlands and 300 survey times available until August, Call of the Wetland is still recruiting. Interested Calgarians are encouraged to participate by:

1. Signing up for surveys on the Call of the Wetland app (download on ITunes or Google Play). Find a wetland in your neighbourhood and choose a date range for which you are available to complete a survey.

2. Using the app to log incidental observations at any wetland you have access to within city limits.
