Event description

Description

A part of CAMP Festival. Details at http://camp.site/

Overview

Marcel Duchamp was a pioneer of Dada, a movement that questioned long-held assumptions about what art should be and how it should be made. Duchamp was “interested in ideas—not merely in visual products.”

In this workshop, we will use mass-produced, commercially available, utilitarian objects and give them new meaning. We will elevate the dignity of the ordinary object by giving it an entirely new purpose, whether useful or completely bizarre. Anything and everything is a medium, no matter how ordinary and mundane it may be perceived, and its possibilities for design are endless.

Objective

The objective of this workshop is to create a wearable solution that aids in heightened seeing. The function can be imaginary or real. The designated medium will be randomly assigned.

Tools Attendees Should Bring

  • Sketchbook
  • Pencil or pen
  • Hands
  • An open mind
  • Computers are not necessary—please focus only on working with your hands and your head.

Last we checked, they are still very much alive.
