We are excited about the workshop lineup for our second annual Wellness Day. Participants can choose workshops geared towards their life and their own definition of wellness. Come for a single workshop or a full day (3 workshops) that includes lunch. Have a look:

Session A Options (10:15am – 11:15am)

Yoga for Back Pain, Tegan Rosato

Join us for a one hour class; 20 minutes of standing postures, 30 minutes of gentle floor postures, and 10 minutes of a guided relaxation, all aimed to bring more awareness to helping you get rid of back pain, for good! Props can help to make this more enjoyable but are not necessary. (yoga mat, 2 blocks, bolsters or thick pillows)

Mind to Table – What it Means to Eat Healthy, Amy Kachurowski

Healthy eating is not about strict limitations or depriving yourself of the foods you love. Rather, it’s about fueling your body to have more energy, improving your health, stabilizing your mood, and feeling great. But the best intentions don’t always align with the results we crave. How can so many of us be motivated to make healthy choices, but not follow through. How can we change the way we think about food and our ability to eat and feed our families better.

Everyday Mindfulness, Amy Black

Mindfulness is a buzz word right now, yet few understand what it means to be mindful. With myths life “you must meditate for hours” or “you need to let you mind be blank” it can be easy to get overwhelmed at the thought to staring a mindfulness practice. This hands-on workshop will introduce everyday mindfulness and give you and your family practical strategies for incorporating them into your life.

Session B Options (11:30am – 12:30pm)

Keep Calm and Manage Stress, Brandi Gruninger

We all experience stress and often our struggle to manage stress can interfere with enjoying our lives. Stress can also manifest into anxiety, which can become debilitating. Brandi Gruninger is a psychologist who will explain how to identify stress versus anxiety and various strategies to manage both. Suitable for adolescents and adults.

Organizing: How To…., Carol McRae

The activity based workshop will help people to identify the tools they need and a plan to start getting their space organized, no matter the reason. Participants will also have an opportunity to compare various organizing systems to refine what works and what doesn’t. Find your wellness through the streamlining of your information and environment.

Beating Bullying: Developing Empathy in Kids, Reanna Lomheim

Empathy is our ability to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes and it has been shown to be key in the fight against bullying. By developing and fostering empathy within our children we help to create an environment that doesn’t partake in bullying behaviours nor stand by when others are in need. Together we will take a look at how we can help support our children and foster empathy within our homes, our schools, and our community.

Session C Options (2:00pm – 3:00pm)

Keeping the Spark Alive, Amy Cardinal

This presentation will focus on styles of communication and various levels of intimacy that help to fan the flames in our relationships. Participants will also explore other topics including dating and keeping your relationship fun while raising kids.

Understanding How to Dress Your Body Type, Jennifer Clark

Understanding your own unique shape is key to looing fabulous and feeling confident. Jennifer Clark, personal stylist for Hudson’s Bay, will help you discover which body type you have and will share while styles and fits are essential for your wardrobe. This light, knowledge filled session is a must for every woman.

Stay Active and Age Gracefully, Lyndsay Conrad

This session will discuss active aging, with a review of exercise options for maintaining function and independence throughout the years. Look forward to a short presentation, after which we’ll get up and get moving as we explore a variety of exercises to keep you nimble. Clothes and shoes that allow for exercise movements are recommended.
