Canada 2020 Studio Series: NAFTA Goes Digital

November 29 | Canada 2020 Studio (35 O'Connor Street, Suite 302) | 3:30 - 4:45 PM

When NAFTA was first ratified almost 25 years ago, the internet, eCommerce and the digital economy were barely in their infancy.

Today, information-technologies form the backbone of the global economy, and the pace (and make-up) of cross-border commerce and trade has increased exponentially.

New trade agreements, then, look substantially different - and old ones need modernizing.

As negotiators from Canada, the U.S. and Mexico debate and restructure a new deal for the 21st century, Canada 2020 will convene a discussion focused entirely on the digital side of NAFTA 2.0.

We invite you to join us in Canada 2020's Studio on Wednesday, November 29th where we will address questions such as: What might the "digital chapter" of NAFTA include? How will Canada define success at the negotiation table? And is NAFTA even the best platform to capture the diversity of the digital economy?

Panelists include:

  • Laura Dawson, Wilson Centre
  • Peter Clark, Gray, Clark & Shih Associates
  • Heather Scoffield, The Canadian Press
  • More to be announced

Registration is free and open to the public.
