Canada is going through a competition to purchase 88 fighter jets for the RCAF. The Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II, Saab JAS 39 Gripen E, and Boeing F/A-18E Super Hornet are the contenders. The award of the $15-19 billion contract will be in 2022.

This debate presents the pros and cons of the aircraft in the competition.

The Honorable Laurie Hawn, CD, MP, RCAF, LCol (Ret) is a former CF-18 pilot, former Fighter Weapons Instructor (F-18), RCAF Squadron Commander, and Member Parliament. He will present on the F-35A Lightning II.
