Enjoy a journey of song from coast to coast as we celebrate Canada's 150th Birthday.
Our "Fantasy Trip" begins in Newfoundland with "Fellers of Fortune" and "I'se The B'y" that builds and sails the boats. Then time for a bowl of "Good Fish Chowder" when Nancy drops an old shoe in the chowder for flavour. We leave the Maritimes singing "Cape Breton Lullaby".
Then we're off to Quebec and Ontario to celebrate our bilingual heritage with "J'entends le Moulin" and a
French /English collection of tunes "A Canadian Rhapsody". We fight the black fly in northern Ontario
with "Black Fly Song", then move up to the Arctic for "Frobisher Bay".
The beautiful song "Wood River", composed by Regina born Connie Kaldor, then takes us to British Columbia where we perform"Where the Gentle Nicola Flows". This song was composed by
Ray Thompson who is the originator and director of the Coquitlam Chorale.
Tribute will be paid to two great Canadian composers as we sing "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen and "Hymn To Freedom" by Oscar Peterson. We then throw in "The Hockey Song" and "This Is My Home" - our alternate National Anthems??
Come and enjoy the songs of Canada as we celebrate our 150th Birthday!
