Event description

Description

Since 2003, the CCR has provided leadership and support at a national level for NGOs concerned about trafficked non-citizen women and girls in Canada, creating and maintaining a national network, hosting regular national and regional meetings, developing policy analysis and practical tools for service providers, and engaging with the government about access to protection for trafficked persons.

The objectives of the CCR regional meetings are to allow NGOs to:

  • Learn about trafficking and identify local needs, changing trends, promising strategies and best practices among service providers, anti-trafficking advocates, migrant rights groups
  • Learn about findings and best practices at the national level,
  • Foster discussions on collaboration between different stakeholders, which may include government, NGOs, law enforcement, and the legal community

This Maritime regional meeting, hosted by YWCA Halifax, will include training on the CCR National Human Trafficking Assessment Tool. This tool is meant to help guide first-contact service providers across Canada in identifying and responding to situations of human trafficking.

Due to limited space, we request that only one representative per organization register for this free, half-day event. Additionally, any registrants who can not attend must let Grace Atkinson know ASAP in order to offer that space to a wait listed participant. A light lunch will be provided with gluten free and vegan options.

Some travel and accomodation support may be available to out of province registrants.
