Event description

Description

This 4 day Canadian Rockies winter photography tour is designed to take you to the best photography locations in Banff, Yoho & beyond whilst chasing the most dramatic light and weather conditions. You will have two of Canada’s most passionate landscape photographers with local knowledge of The Canadian Rockies by your side every step of the way assisting you in achieving all of your photographic goals.

The highlights of this adventure will be photographing the frozen bubbles on the icy surface of Abraham Lake, enjoying the ice magic festival in Lake Louise & staying at the incredibly beautiful Emerald Lake Lodge on your final night.

A small group size with 2 instructors/guides maximizes your learning experience through their photography instruction & mentoring. This workshop is suitable for all levels of photography experience from a complete beginner to the advanced photographer as there will be many one on one opportunities throughout our time together. We will be by your side providing all that we know and love about landscape photography & The Canadian Rockies.

This is a great opportunity to have an in-depth photography adventure, to walk away a better photographer, to make new friends, and most importantly to have fun. We look forward to welcoming you to this spectacular part of Canada!

If you would like a private room for the duration of the trip then contact us directly as there is an extra charge of $250 and we will do our best to accommodate you.

FAQ's

What should I bring to the event?

DSLR/Mirrorless camera, wide angle and telephoto lenses, tripod, filters, camera bag, cold weather clothing - lots of layers, mitts, beanie/toque, insulated winter boots, thermals, laptop for editing, spare batteries, spare memory cards, headlamp & lots of energy!

What are my transportation options for getting to and from the event?

We will be meeting at 10am in Banff on day 1 of the workshop. Transport to/from Calgary International airport can be easily arranged with Banff Airporter or Brewster Express Bus and takes about 1.5hrs. You will be dropped off at the location of your request in the Banff/Canmore area on the final day around lunch time.

How cold will it be and will there be snow & wild weather?

This time of year can be very cold but sometimes it is mild too. Expect -6C (21 F) to -20C (-4 F) but it could be warmer or colder than that. It often snows in January which is great for winter wonderland landscape photography which we will have plenty of opportunities to capture along the way. Bring thin inner gloves and large winter gloves for over the top of those which makes camera operation much easier in the cold. Winter boots are essential and a down jacket is recommended.

What is NOT included in the event?

* All food and drink - we will have access to restaurants throughout the trip.

* Travel and medical insurance. We highly recommend you purchase these before embarking on this trip.

* Your flights and travel to Banff, Alberta. Once you arrive into Banff we will pick you up and take care of the rest!

How can I contact the organizer with any other questions?

Contact us via email nfitzhardinge@gmail.com or sarahlyndsay@hotmail.ca. We look forward to hearing from you!
