Event description
The City of Richmond wants to know what YOUTH (18 and under) think about Richmond’s climate actions so far.

About this Event

We want to know what YOUTH (18 and under) think about Richmond’s climate actions so far. What should the City of Richmond do to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Richmond by 50% by 2030?

Join us for a lively discussion and activities on Monday, September 30 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Richmond City Hall (right beside Richmond Centre) at room M 2.004 (second floor). We will have snacks available starting at 3:15 p.m., so come early! You can cycle, take transit, walk/roll to Richmond City Hall. City Hall is wheelchair accessible.

Background:

Five years ago, Richmond City Council approved Richmond’s Community Energy and Emissions Plan (CEEP), which allowed the City of Richmond to complete action items that helps us reduce greenhouse gas emissions and manage our use of energy.

Earlier this year, Richmond City Council declared a climate emergency in response to the urgent call set out by the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Richmond became one of more than 600 cities (and counting) across the world that has made similar declarations.

As a result, City of Richmond staff are now working to get feedback from all members of the community on how we can work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and help limit the average global warming to 1.5°C. Once we hear from members of the community, the City of Richmond will update the Community Energy and Emissions Plan.
