Event description

Description

SORRY - CANCELLED due to no enrollment

The Power of Attorney for Personal Care (POA-PC) is an imporant legal document to consider as you plan for your future. This education program is presented on Wednesdays. Tickets include attendance at both parts of the training program - May 1 and 8th

Adults of all ages should consider whether they need a POA-PC.

  • Who do you trust to make health care decisions if you cannot speak for yourself?

  • Who decides where you will live if your memory fails and you cannot live alone?

  • Who is going to protect you from harm and abuse if you cannot protect yourself?

  • Who do you want to step into your shoes and make decisions if you are injured in an accident and cannot look after yourself?

A POA-PC requires careful consideration before you name an attorney and before you accept the responsibility to become an attorney.

POA School 101 will review the purpose and the scope of the POA-PC and help you to decide on the best person or people to make decisions on your behalf if you are unable.

A POA-PC is like an insurance policy that lets you choose who will make decisions if you cannot.

In POA School 101 we will go through each section of a typical POA-PC document and teach you all that you need to know before you chose a POA, or choose not to choose.

POA School is an interactive, small group session to answer all your questions about the POA-PC and who to choose, explore questions of capacity to grant or revoke a POA-PC and to discuss what to do if things go wrong. The program is delivered in 2 sessions, 2 weeks apart. The time in between allows you to put your learning into practice and start to draft your own POA-PC and to have the much needed discussions with your family and friends before you finalize this legal document.
