Event description
Breakfast session for companies and institutional investors on advancing good governance and addressing ESG risk and opportunity in cannabis

About this Event

As cannabis companies grow, they will need to attract and retain the large pools of patient capital offered by institutional investors. However, many of these investors have been hesitant to invest in cannabis or have experienced volatility in their investment in the industry, in part due to concerns about corporate governance approaches and the oversight and management of material risks - including emerging environmental and social risks. Most institutional investors now consider ESG (environmental, social and governance) factors in investment decision making and seek to address ESG concerns through proxy voting and engagement. Without a thoughtful approach to ESG, communicated through robust disclosure and effective dialogue, companies may fail to attract institutional capital, face growing investor dissent and their cost of capital may be impacted.

CCGG, CPA Canada and ESG Global Advisors invite you to a breakfast panel session that will explore institutional investor and company perspectives on how to advance governance in the cannabis industry and address the material environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities facing the sector.
