Imagine this, you find out that an employee may be under the influence of Cannabis (or another drug) while at work. As an employer, what do you need to know and how should you handle this challenge?

Please join us at the Best Western Plus Lamplighter Inn and Conference Centre, Wellington Road in London for Cannabis and the Workplace on Tuesday September 25th for a full day workshop that will feature 4 experts on the topic of Cannabis and Work!

The Cannabis Act, Bill C-45 will have a profound effect on all workplaces in all sectors in Canada when it becomes legislation on October 17th 2018. Our subject matter experts will answer your questions and address your concerns from a medical, legal, occupational health and safety and policy development point of view.

The conference will feature,

  • Dr. Iris Greenwald (DriverCheck) will address the physiological effects of cannabis in the body and why this is a concern for employers, especially in safety sensitive workplaces. She will also address the challenges around the determination of impairment.
  • Adeeba Ahmed, Health and Safety Consultant Public Services Health and Safety Association;– From an occupational health and safety perspective, Adeeba will look at the effects and challenges of cannabis in the workplace related to safety on the job –for employees, coworkers, customers and the public.
  • Lawyers: George Hamzo | Yola S. Ventresca - Lerners LLP (London) – will provide an introduction to Bill C-45. “The Cannabis Act” that legalizes recreational cannabis and will create Human Rights and Duty to Accommodate challenges for employers in all sectors. Learn your rights as an employer.
  • Barbara Butler – Consultant Barbara Butler & Associates Inc. From a Human Resource perspective, Barbara will look at the current situation on medical and legal cannabis, the implications for employers and steps to take when implementing an alcohol and drug policy or updating the current one.

With the Cannabis Act, Bill C-45 on October 17, 2018, the public will have increased accessibility to recreational cannabis and employers are understandably concerned about how this will affect their workplaces… know where you stand before you are faced with a cannabis dilemma in your workplace!
