About this event
HYBRID CONFERENCE: Attend in person or online according to your own comfort level.
BACKGROUND: Health Canada began regulating patients’ access to medical cannabis through licensed producers 20 years ago. In 2018, cannabis use was fully legalized for both medical and recreational purposes under the Cannabis Act, Canada’s legal framework that controls the production, distribution, sale and possession of cannabis across Canada. Despite interest in cannabis as a medical product, there is still little known about its true potential, and concerns over safety remain. In this context, this conference will showcase the progress made by Canadian research centers and training programs that have focused on cannabis science. These findings have contributed to a growing body of evidence-based knowledge on the medicinal application of cannabis, in addition to improving efficacy, safety and quality of cannabis products along the supply chain. With this has come a pioneering and newly educated workforce that is committed to reducing harm and standardizing this nascent regulated industry.
