About this event

Explore Toronto’s mid-century modern architecture on this interactive photo walk. Learn how to identify elements of modernist architecture, from coloured panels to geometric forms, and about the architects, such as Uno Prii, who brought this style to the world stage. Bring along a camera to shoot your favourite examples in our urban landscape. This tour will be co-led by professional photographer Vik Pahwa.

Start Location: Spadina Subway Station (Walmer Road exit), Closest TTC Stop: Bloor Subway Line (Line 2), Walmer Road stop

End Location: 100 Spadina Avenue

Length of Tour: Approximately 2 hours

Distance and Terrain: Less than1 kilometre, mostly on city sidewalks.

Registration is required for all tours. Please note: you will not be able to join a tour group if you have not registered ahead of time.

This tour relies on a loudspeaker sound system. For over 25 years, our goal has been to share Toronto’s history and showcase its architecture, spaces, communities and cultures with as many people as possible. We continue this commitment by providing these accessible tours and ask you to support this work by making a donation when you register, or on the tour. Charitable tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more.

Our staff and volunteers will be at the tour's starting location 30 minutes prior to each tour. Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes prior to the start of the tour to allow time for check in.

We are excited to host in-person tours this year and ask for your help and patience in making the experience as safe as possible for everyone. All tour events will follow Toronto Public Health guidelines and Heritage Toronto safety measures. Tours are held outside and masks are recommended for all participants. Masks will be available on the tour upon request.
