Event description
Celebrate the beauty of live music, community and friendship with a distanced concert featuring folk artist extraordinaire Cara Luft!

About this Event

Missing live music? Here's a chance to come together-while-apart safely, and celebrate friendship, music and community with Canadian folk artist extraordinaire Cara Luft. Hosted by Holyrood Mennonite Church, the concert will take place outdoors on the church lawns.

We are limiting attendance to 50 individuals. ** Please reserve here through EventBrite as we need to track who is attending. Reserve each person separately (email if any questions). **

Tickets are based on a sliding scale, with a suggested minimum donation/ticket price of $30 - $40 per person. Donate what you are able. All are welcome. If payment via Eventbrite is difficult for you, reach out directly to Cara at lovelyluft@gmail.com to talk about alternatives (e transfer, cash, cheque) and how to go about reserving your spot(s).

MORE INFORMATION:

Physical distancing will be maintained throughout the concert, but seating can be based on your "bubbles" – you are welcome to be seated in your safe contact groupings.

Bring your own chairs, refreshments, coolers, snacks, ice, utensils, chairs, blankets, hand sanitizer. See this as a musical picnic :) Please take home anything you brought with you.

We ask that you arrange your chairs 6 feet away from other groups and at least 12 feet away from Cara (she'll be singing moistly).

Masks are worn to protect others. They are optional, but we do encourage the wearing of them if you have health concerns.

We ask that if any attendees are feeling unwell, are displaying any of the symptoms attributed to COVID-19, have tested positive for COVID-19, or have been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, we would request that they please stay home.

Cara will perform one 90 minute set with no break, please arrive no sooner than 6:30 pm. Toilets may be accessed for emergency use only.

Let's fill our cups with some much-needed joy! :)

ABOUT CARA:

Juno award winning singer-songwriter-musician extraordinaire Cara Luft is that rare artist steeped in folk and traditional roots music almost from birth, yet willing to alter the fabric, stretch the boundaries and fearlessly bend genres and styles. A founding member of two Canadian folk super-groups — The Wailin' Jennys and The Small Glories — Luft deserves her solid reputation as one of Canada’s finest live performers whose engaging, down-home style comes wrapped in a delicious sense of humour. To quote the roots magazine No Depression, “Luft has a rich tradition in folk music – it’s safe to assume that she knows her stuff – and upon listening it becomes quite clear that she is indeed a formidable songwriter and performer... [The] lovely Ms. Luft sets the bar for the talented few who’ll follow in her footsteps.”

Luft has a spirit that drives her to connect with people, and for this she is loved everywhere she goes.  She is one of Canada's hardest working musicians, armed with amazing tenacity, vision, energy and a contagious hilarity.  Reviewers of her live shows talk about her superb musicianship, her humourous anecdotes, her ability to switch between styles, her accomplished songwriting, and the charm of her stage presence.  Cara’s the real deal, there’s nothing pretentious about her.  And that sense of honesty, integrity, personality and spontaneity permeates both her music and her live shows. “Long may she reign!” (Lonesome Highway)
