Description

Carbon Pricing in Manitoba: What is it and what does it mean to you?

There has been much debate recently about who has the better carbon pricing plan: the Provincial or Federal Government. This presentation backs up that debate a little bit to help explain what carbon pricing is, what the different approaches are, and how it will affect everyday life in Manitoba going forward. The latter half of the presentation will look in greater detail at both the provincial and federal carbon pricing plans and compare and contrast the approaches, including key elements and outstanding questions.

Philip Gass is a Senior Researcher from the International Institute for Sustainable Development, specializing in climate change and green economy policy in North America and international developments within the UNFCCC process. Currently based in Geneva, Switzerland, Philip is a native Manitoban and worked on sustainable development issues in the province for over 10 years.
