Description

Career Clarity Workshops are for future students and are delivered by professional career counsellors at Algonquin College. There are three workshops available:

  • Making an Informed Program Choice
  • Introduction to Career Decision Making
  • “Where are the Jobs?” Exploring Labour Market Information

All workshops will be 45 minutes with 15 minutes at the end for questions. Select the workshops, dates, and times that are right for you!




Making an Informed Program Choice
Time: 45 minutes

Workshop Description: This workshop will help answer the question "What program should I take?” It is for people who are strongly considering attending Algonquin College and are unsure where to find information about the College that will help them narrow down their choices. Topics include:

  • Determining your readiness to pick a program
  • Helping you identify what information to consider when choosing a program
  • How to narrow down your choices based on interests
  • Understanding where your choices might fit within the structure of Algonquin College
  • Suggestions on how to get more information on a program
  • Where to go next



Introduction to Career Decision Making
Time: 45 minutes

Workshop Description: “I have no idea what I want to do.” This interactive workshop is the first step in the career exploration process and is best suited to someone who meets basic college admission requirements. Topics include:

  • Determining career choice readiness
  • An overview of the career decision making process
  • Getting started with career self-assessment tools
  • Where to go next




“Where are the Jobs?” Exploring Labour Market Information
Time: 45 minutes

Workshop Description: This workshop is for people who are concerned about how to make career and education decisions based on job prospects. Topics include:

  • Understanding what labour market information is and its limitations and benefits
  • How to critically analyze different sources of labour market information
  • How to understand labour market trends
  • Labour market myth busters
