Event Details

The 11th annual CaribbeanTales International Film Festival (CTFF), returns to Toronto beginning September 7 - 17. The festival showcases Caribbean films from 15 selected countries around the region with public, and community screenings. This includes 10-feature length and 20 short films in competition for the CTFF Audience Prize, which will be announced on closing night – September 17.

CTFF celebrates the talents of established and emerging filmmakers of Caribbean heritage who practise their art across the Caribbean Diaspora worldwide – including Canada and the Caribbean, Europe, the Americas, Africa, China, India and the Middle East. CTFF presents a multi-ethnic mix of exciting and dynamic films that showcase diverse shared stories and cultures.

“As we continually grow in capacity and impact, the Canadian arm of CaribbeanTales is proud to present our flagship event for the eleventh consecutive year” says founder and filmmaker Frances-Anne Solomon

This year’s festival aims to embody Caribbean culture through the lens of filmmakers. CTFF Programming Committee member, filmmaker and Trinidad & Tobago native, Christopher Pinheiro, describes Caribbean film as “channeling our inner story-tellers into film, video and new media to re-vision old and new tales of the Caribbean for worldwide audiences.”
