Description

Caring for Seafarers

Ministering to seafarers provides help and support to the men and women who face danger every day to keep our global economy afloat. Seafarers often spend months at sea, away from their families and the rest of society.

At Roberts Bank, a team of port chaplains, staff and volunteers offers practical, emotional and spiritual support to seafarers through ship visits, a drop-in centre, and other services.

One of those chaplains is Dileep Athaide, the Catholic chaplaincy coordinator for the port. He will share insights and stories about what life at sea is like and how ship visits and the drop-in centres at the Port of Vancouver are making a difference.

Join us for this free presentation to hear:

  • about the life and work of seafarers
  • how ship visits and the drop-in centres provide a lifeline
  • heartwarming stories and anecdotes.

Guest speaker:

Deacon Dileep Athaide
Catholic Chaplaincy Coordinator
Apostleship of the Sea, Port of Vancouver

Choose from one of two presentations:

4 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

Please note this is not a religious presentation. It is about seafarers -- the people who bring us 90% of everything we have.
