Course Description

The CASI Toronto Aircraft Design Course aims to provide university aerospace engineering students exposure to practical aspects of aircraft design.

An aircraft is a particular combination of wing, fuselage, empennage and power plant. Conceptual design focuses on the best way to integrate these components to best fulfill the design requirements. The initial aircraft layout depends upon factors related to the mission role, the economic efficiency, the operational and functional requirements, the safety and reliability of the vehicle, the type of propulsion system, etc. The course will be focusing on how the conceptual designer can maximize the synergy in the global system and the multi-
disciplinary nature of aircraft design.

The course is structured in an intensive format, spanning two Saturdays to cover three modules related to aircraft design with practical examples. Throughout the course, a case study is offered to enhance students’ learning experience and engage students’ participation.

A certificate of completion will be awarded to students upon completion of the course. The certificate will be recognized by companies in the aerospace industry. This course can also be used towards professional development continuing education credit.
