December 9, 2020
11:00am-1:00pm
On December 9, 2020 the digital event series for CAV Canada 2020 will present a session on the impact of CAVs on the General Public.
For the opening session, registrants will be asked to step back in time as it is 1908 all over again. Instead of the Model T Ford, we are witnessing the launch of CAVs which will change things in the 21st Century as much as the Model T and other early cars changed the 20th Century. In a panel on how CAV’s are changing people’s lives including labour, logistics and banking, participants will include:
Moderator Barrie Kirk, Executive Director, CAVCOE,
- Armine Yalnizyan, Atkinson Fellow on the Future of Workers,
- Chris Keefe, Vice President of Autonomous Programs Aurrigo – North America
- Cindy Zhang, Financial Services Lawyer at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG)

Session 2: How CAVs will transform our communities - imagining the way we will live, work, play and learn in the cities of the future
The Jetsons era may be closer than we think and as research and innovations related to smart cities rapidly evolve, our communities are bracing for a transformational shift in how these future technologies will integrate into our daily lives. What will the communities of the future look like in the next 5,10, 20 years? Join us as we discuss with a diverse panel of industry leaders, led by CBC Tech News Journalist, Manjula Selvarajah.
Panel participants will include:
Michael Tremblay, President & CEO, Invest Ottawa, Bayview Yards and Area X.O,
Nathalie Guthrie, Director Human Resources, CENGN
Dr. Burak Kantarci, Associate Professor, University of Ottawa Smart Connected Autonomous Vehicles Innovation Lab, Uottawa Kanata North
Catherine Carlton, Former Mayor, City of Menlo Park.
Our event will conclude with 15 minutes of networking. Be ready to join us with audio and video.
