2nd QUALIFIER - Build Team Canada.

The best way we could do it is to provide as many opportunities as possible to have Canadians give their best shot. Canada has been through several lockdowns and have only recently been able to operate public events, albeit still in a restricted and limited capacity. Some countries have chosen to have both of their qualifier finalists represent their country, others didn’t need a qualifier to select their team members.

That being said, unlike other countries, we have not been able to provide many activities and events leading up to the qualification and selection process for Team Canada. This has made it difficult to select National representatives based on recent performance. We know that pandemic disrupted us, we feel it. Therefore, it is only fair to give Canadian athletes another shot!

October 29th weekend in Toronto, we will hold the 2nd National Qualifier for 2021. Winners will join recent winners, Phil (BC) and Emma (BC) on Team Canada.

The qualification process will continue to be open to all Canadians. All Canadians must be registered as a DanceSport member in order to participate and winners must be Canadian citizens to represent Canada. The 2nd National Qualifier will be held in Toronto on October 29, 2021. This qualification will reward highest ranking athletes from previous Canadian Open Call events.

The Bgirl category will provide CDS National Qualifier semi-finalist Tiff (ON) with automatic bracket entry.

The Bboy category will provide Skillz-O-Meter 2021 Champion, Mass (QC), and the remaining Top 8 (Illz (ON), Romeo (QC), Montuu (ON), Madtrack (QC), Ali (ON), TimJ (ON), and Anyo (ON)) from the CDS National Qualifier with automatic Top 16 bracket entry. There will also be two (2) qualifying spots coming from the winners at The Flyest in Vancouver on October 2nd.

This will leave six (6) open spots to be decided via preliminary selection on the day of the event.

This is an exciting time in the development of the Breaking sector in Canada and we will send two winners to the WDSF World Championships in Paris this December. Stay tuned for more event details and how you can be the next to be part of the National Breaking Team.
