Event description

Description

This is a FREE event.

In support of SFU’s commitment to student engagement and undergraduate student research experiences, we invite you to a free one-day Symposium on April 6, 2018 at the Burnaby campus.

Honours undergraduate students will describe their research to a diverse audience in an academic setting, showcasing the high quality of undergraduate research taking place at the University.

About the Symposium

The inaugural 2018 Symposium provides an opportunity for any Honours student in any discipline to present their research in accessible language in five-minute presentations in a friendly and supportive environment.

The Symposium will be held from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm on April 6, 2018 at the Burnaby campus.

Presentation Format

Honours undergraduate students’ presentations will be lecture-oriented in style, and allow for the sharing, showcasing, and dissemination of undergraduate academic research. Using a "5x5" model, presentations will be grouped in sessions of five by theme, followed by a 15-minute moderated conversation to explore common themes and encourage interdisciplinary discourse.

Symposium Sponsors

This event is a collaboration between the Office of the Vice-President, Research and International and the Office of the Vice-President, Academic and Provost. The Teaching and Learning Centre and the Library are co-leading the project, with the full participation and support of Research Operations and Student Engagement and Retention.
