About this Event

In March we celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) 2020. This year’s theme is #ChooseAChallenge. We will once again join with communities from around the world to mark and celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD).

In celebration of International Women's Day, please join me in a one-on-one conversation with the former Mayor of Mississauga, and legend, Hazel McCallion on Monday, March 8th from 8 to 9 am.

Hazel celebrated her 100th birthday on February 14th and has had a remarkable career in public service, and at the age of 100 she continues to give back to her community and Mississauga through her various philanthropic endeavours and community service.

McCallion was first elected in November 1978, and is the longest-serving mayor in the city's history and Canada, having served for 36 years at the time of her retirement in 2014. Her supporters gave her the nickname "Hurricane Hazel" because of her outspoken political style.

Spend an hour with us to learn about Hazel’s incredible career, how she propelled herself and women in politics, and what International Women's Day means to her. Hear her reflections on her career and her choices on the challenges she embarked on to make her one of the most incredible public figures in Canada. And most importantly, what her advice is for young women and future generations in making their mark in the world.

I hope you will be able to join us for this uplifting event as inspire our young women and leaders.
