Description

Institute of Applied Conflict Management (IACM)

Gain professional development in Applied Conflict Management (non-degree)

Each day we encounter or hear of conflict, whether in our personal lives, on the job, or in the community. The Institute of Applied Conflict Management (IACM) is designed for supervisors and managers, union representatives, healthcare workers, educators, social workers, lawyers, police officers and First Nations leaders who wish to improve their conflict management knowledge and skills.

Whether you are someone who wants to use conflict management skills in your personal life, a professional seeking training to become a Conflict Resolution practitioner or an experienced practitioner seeking support and further development you will benefit from this program.

Through a strategic partnership between Nipissing University and the Canadian International Institute of Applied Negotiation (CIIAN), its highly-acclaimed Module I (Conflict Analysis and Negotiation) and Module II (Mediation) workshops are a central feature of this new program.

Both of these 4 day modules are approved by ADR Ontario and may be used to apply for the Chartered Mediator (C. Med) designation.

Or, if you wish to work in international peacebuilding then this training can be applied toward obtaining the Peace Professional designation from the Civilian Peace Service Canada.

Practical, accessible and easy to understand, this Institute will fill up quickly so reserve your place now!

Certificate Completion (3 months)

Take CIIAN’s Modules I and II plus the Capstone Seminar in order to earn your professional development in 3 months.

Both of these 4 day modules are approved by ADR Ontario and may be used to apply for the Chartered Mediator (C. Med) designation. The C.Med designation is Canada’s most senior official designation for practicing mediators. There are extensive training and experience requirements which must be met before applying for this designation, including the successful completion of an approved mediation course. Modules I and Modules II, when both modules have been completed, have been accepted as an Approved Mediation Course by the ADR Institute of Ontario.

Or, if you wish to work in international peacebuilding then this training can be applied toward obtaining the Peace Professional designation from the Civilian Peace Service Canada.

During our Capstone Seminar you will learn from world-class academics, practitioners and policymakers. The Capstone Workshop features a blend of lectures, roundtable discussions, exercises and group work held over 2 days on our beautiful campus in North Bay.

Modules I and II are each offered once a year in July/August. The Capstone Seminar is offered over a weekend in September.
