The CES EnviroCon is an interdisciplinary conference organized every year by students of the Collaborative Graduate Program in the Centre for Environment and Sustainability at Western University. EnviroCon 2018 will provide a forum for a broad range of topics in the Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences, Business, Policy, and Management.

This year EnviroCon aims to bring together the knowledge and research of students, faculty and community members involved in environment and sustainability. We will have featured speakers focusing on this year's theme: community engagement. Speakers include Dr. Kate Parizeau, Associate Professor University of Guelph, Richie Bloomfield, Director of Urban Roots, Andrew Fleet, Executive Director of Growing Chefs Ontario. There will be student presentations that are accessible to a diverse and broad audience, a hands on backyard ecology workshop, sustainability information booths, and a expert panel discussion on sustainable food practices (register separately). Lunch is provided for all PANEL DISCUSSION attendees.

In this panel we will be exploring issues of food waste and production from a number of perspectives. We will be asking our panelists to draw on their knowledge of current food production and waste and to debate possible solutions to some of these ongoing issues. When it comes to food we have an abundance of choices available to us every day however the environmental impacts of those choices are not immediately apparent to us. The production, packaging, and disposal of food and food adjacent products can all have a significant and lasting effect on our Earth, however we as consumers are often not aware of our role in this.

Full Program

EnviroCon will take place on Friday March 16th 2018 from 8:30am-6pm at the Atrium in the IGAB building.
